I loved Philip Guston's paintings when i saw the at Hauser & Wirth, it is so sad yellow newspapers like the New York times and other "art critics" laughed at his work in the 1970, fucking douches /
Very Very interesting Dept of State Art from 15 years ago. Now - this is art, not being ironic. Now and again something like that actually happens /

The Berkeley Center for New Media (BCNM) and the
U.S. Department of State announce:
Opinion Space:
A Global Experiment in Open Dialogue
http://state.gov/opinionspace
Opinion Space is a visualization tool for world
opinion developed by an interdisciplinary team of
students and faculty at the UC Berkeley Center for
New Media in collaboration with new media experts
at the U.S. Department of State.
Opinion Space is an experimental interactive
website where participants can express opinions
and instantly see where they stand with respect to
others around the world. It uses dimensionality
reduction techniques to display the emerging
diversity of viewpoints and collaborative scoring
metrics to help the community highlight comments
that are most insightful.

U.S. Dept of State Media Note
Washington, DC
March 15, 2010
The Department of State today launches "Opinion
Space", an interactive site hosted on State.gov
that seeks to foster global conversations on
foreign affairs.
"Opinion Space will harness the power of
connection technologies to provide a unique forum
for international dialogue. This is an example of
what we call 21st century statecraft and an
opportunity to extend our engagement beyond the
halls of government directly to the people of the
world. I can't wait to be a part of this exciting
new conversation," said Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton.
Opinion Space, developed jointly by the Department
of State and the University of California at
Berkeley's Center for New Media (BCNM), is
accessible to anyone around the world.
Opinion Space invites users to share their
perspectives and ideas on U.S. foreign policy in
an innovative visual "opinion map" that will
illustrate which ideas result in the most
discussion and which ideas are judged most
insightful by the community of participants
This map is not based on geography or
predetermined categories, but on similarity of
opinion. Opinion Space is designed to
'depolarize' discussions by including all
participants on a level playing field.
To participate in this experiment, see where you
stand with respect to others around the world, and
join the discussion, please visit Opinion Space
at:
http://state.gov/opinionspace
Future discussion questions will be on a range of
foreign policy issues.

As a lion with three leos in my chart I have always spent exorbitant amount of money on my hair. Until the pandemic, when I learned to do my own hair by necessity /
was never interested in doing "women's art" or what i call vagina work. It is just one organ /
New York City and Spain were very important to me, but I do not need New York anymore. Of course the influence of the great artist Salvador Dali, christo, and marina /
If I weren't batshit crazy w depression anxiety things would have been much better, no crazy decisions, back and forth and self doubt. The sheer amount of time spent batshitting. Would they? /
I should probably call my book the meandering ways of mirena rhee /

Note from July 23 2014 /
I am not even sure how to write what i need to write - but I woke up inspired about writing a book again.
So many ideas for a book so uch crazy things to talk about but one thing I seem to becoming an expert in is insanity, hardly a subject i’d like to continue to be acquainted with.
smoking cigarettes doesnt seem to help. So many stories in my head, from my mom's parenting to my first landing in chicago. to the dervishes i am currently watching on the side (baraka). And with this spinning mind - I do not know how much I can accomplish. To the unfinished paintings standing in this room hung just like clothes. almost forgot I was in japan, such a place of peace that seems to amplify the loneliness.
A bit exhausting to be crazy - this is a good title for a book.
I'm writing a chapter on Moving to New York City from San Francisco /
When I lived in San Francisco I had status someone who is making a lot of money working for Lucasfilm so I got things including friends acquaintances art shows.
When I moved to New York City I reset to a baseline which is basically nothing. Ultimately it was a great thing for my art but terrible for my psyche.
Now that I go through my emails from years ago I realize how much the u.s. is about money and status. That is what is being liked basically. You could be an idiot but you must be somebody.
This is what I wrote to a “new” new york friend who was working for the new york times, literally a few days into my “new” new york life (may 2010) "I am getting used to the neighborhood, to the city and trying to fit my one bedroom flat into one room. I realized I am so provincial, attached to my shell and little things like a turtle. time to become a new yorker:)"
Boy i did.
